My name is Riley Lee Steelface, and I have been playing the drums since April of 2013. I am 12 years old and I have already released my first album entitled "1 of Many", which was written, recorded, and played solely by myself! Riley's musical journey began in April 2013, when he first developed an interest in playing drums. Riley tried sports and other activities, but drumming was the only thing that truly fueled his passion.  Amazingly, Riley has only had 1 year of formal drum and piano lessons.  Since beginning drum lessons in 2013, his abilities have progressed exponentially.  Within a few months of playing, he taught himself and recorded his first cover song video, Tool's "Sober", at age 9.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Riley continues to grow, happily practicing several hours every day, and has developed new abilities, teaching himself guitar, bass and keyboard over the last 18 months.  After teaching himself and recording over a hundred cover songs on YouTube, he told us one day, "I have songs in my head and I need to record them."  At age 10, he began to compose and record a full album of original songs himself, playing drums, guitar and bass!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

While all of this amazing discovery and learning was taking place, Riley's younger brother, Liam, was paying close attention.  Liam started singing, playing the drums and taking piano lessons at age 5, and is emerging as a talented musician in his own right.  He seems to have the same natural musical abilities as his brother, and he will be included in Steelface activities because he ROCKS! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In addition to one year of formal lessons, Riley and Liam have also had occasional lessons from talented, touring music industry professionals like MATT STARR (Ace Frehley, MR BIG) Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle, Puscifer) .  We look forward to providing more of these experiences for the boys, as they have been beneficial in aspects far beyond music instruction, often leading to valuable friendships and networking opportunities.

Riley and Liam are both excellent students, who understand the value of hard work.  Riley will be entering 7th grade this year in the gifted and talented program for Math, English Language Arts, and Science.  Liam is starting 3rd grade, and thus far has been an outstanding student with advanced abilities in all academic areas.
